Gibran paced the floors of the Big Mall, checking in and out of every shoe store. He couldn’t find it, nothing even similar to it. But he kept looking, determined not to give up.

”It’s okay if you don’t find it” his wife placed her hand on his shoulder ”we will get her another pair.”

”No. She said she would like to have the same ones, the ones she whatsapped me.”

”This is the only mall left. We have been all across the city searching for her Cinderella shoes.”

Our Little Mastermind by Rachel Grise

Prompt: Mastermind I Word Count: 1000 I Genre: Fiction

We called you our little mastermind before you were ever even born. Not like an evil mastermind, which is what I think everyone immediately thinks of when they hear that word. But, like, the superman of masterminds, using your talents for truth, justice, and the American way. At least that’s how we saw it. After all, you were doing incredible things before you were barely a fetus.

I had been sick almost every day for a week, and not just in the mornings either, but afternoons, evenings, after eating, before eating. It was flu season, and I thought I caught some awful bug. I’m embarrassed to tell you this, you being a mastermind and all, but it took me an entire week to realize that I could be pregnant.

Shining Wings McClaire by Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait

Prompt: The Club | Word Count: 750 | Genre: Fantasy

The day started out in the typical fashion. Making beds, cleaning up the breakfast dishes so I could get to the outside! Inhaling the fresh Spring air is medicine for the Soul!

And of course I’m greeted with another thing needing fixing! A busted water line near the pin oak. My hair whipped my face as I ran to the shut off valve and gripped it with all my might. Finally, it squeaked its way off. Just jolly well splendid! Crap like this always happens when I’m by myself!

Sloshing through the water which has bubbled up, I search to find where the problem is coming from.  As I bend over, I discover a nice caved in hole indicating where the line break happened, then thwack! A big old branch came crashing down, catching me on the back of my head, sending me sprawling to the ground.

Undone on Street by Sarah Muzaffar

Prompt: Coming Undone | Word Count: 1199 | Genre: Drama

He returned again, empty-handed, not as much as a cent in his hand. After an hour’s wait, he showed up nonchalantly.

“I didn’t get anything….nobody gave me anything”, he stammered to her raging glare. “They all shoo me away, what can I do….”

A tight slap across his cheek stopped him. Tears streamed their way on his smoky face.

“You lazy bum, you don’t move your ass around as much, do you! Just that damned traffic signal. That is where you linger about all the time. Who will give you anything there? They are already so hot and angry, waiting at the signal. You think they will even look at you. You have no sense.”
